Invitation to the Joy of Resurrection

​

As we approach Easter Sunday, we celebrate the joy and hope of the resurrection. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die... Do you believe this?”

(Jn 11:25-26, NIV).

Through His resurrection, Jesus broke the power of death and opened the way to new life. But still, many people wonder—why do we fear death? Perhaps one simple reason is that we fear what we do not know. I remember my very first trip abroad in 1991, when I traveled to India. During a long layover in Bangkok, I was too afraid to leave the airport. I worried that I might get lost in a foreign land. But after a few hours, I finally gathered the courage to step outside. When I returned safely, something had changed—I was no longer afraid. In fact, I began to enjoy travelling in foreign lands.

 

In a similar way, when we begin to see life and death through the hope of the resurrection, fear gives way to peace. What once felt uncertain becomes a doorway to something greater—life with God. This is why the Bible calls salvation “eternal life,” which is truly a beautiful expression. It is not just about the future. It begins even now, bringing hope, purpose, and joy into our daily lives.
